Worldcatcher: Blue

2026 · fibre, shell, glass, wood and found materials

I wanted to make something that felt like carrying a small piece of the coast home.

Built between two wrapped hoops, Worldcatcher: Blue holds a loose web of thread, blue glass, wooden beads and shells gathered from the shoreline at Dawlish Warren. The shells still carry their own histories — worn, broken and weathered by water — suspended alongside pieces designed to catch and scatter light.

I think of it less as a decorative object and more as a tiny suspended landscape: part talisman, part memory, part imagined world.

FIELD NOTE
I keep returning to the idea that found objects already contain stories. Making becomes less about creating something from nothing and more about rearranging what has already lived.
