An Imperfect World

2026 · resin, dried botanicals, metal, glass and found materials

This was my first time working with resin.

I knew before I began that I would make mistakes. Bubbles would form. Things would shift. The resin wouldn't necessarily behave the way I imagined it would.

So I decided not to make perfection the condition for success.

As imperfections appeared, I worked around them. I added flowers, fragments, colour and tiny details until the mistakes became part of the landscape. Somewhere in the process, I stopped trying to make a perfect suncatcher and started building a tiny world.

That shift has stayed with me.

FIELD NOTE
Perhaps transformation isn't always repairing what went wrong. Sometimes it's allowing what happened to change what the thing becomes.
